This weekend we stayed with Aunt Dawn, Uncle Mike and Mia. Miss C snuck and played on Mia's little exerciser thingy. She kinda looks a little frightened, doesn't she?

4 Months
Dear Baby Girl,
Today I was putting away clothes that you can no longer wear and it made me sad to realize that you will never be that tiny little baby again. It seems like these last 4 months have flown by and that scares me in a way I can't fully explain.
People always said "they grow up so fast" and I didn't really understand what they meant, now I do. I want to freeze time and live in this moment with you forever. Being with you brings me a joy that was previously unimaginable and makes me truly think on a much deeper level about every decision I make throughout the day. What I do now, is because of you whereas before, it was all about me.
You are a happy baby and a true pleasure to be around. I can tell you are your Daddy's baby by the way you talk and sing with such intensity. I can tell you are my girl by your fierce determination to achieve whatever you set your little mind out to achieve, be it rolling over or grabbing a toy you so desperately want but is just out of reach. You are the perfect blend of your Dad and me.
Your days right now are pretty much like clockwork. People think we are nuts by our routine but we worked really hard to get to this point and it has paid off. We know when you are tired, hungry or just over it and that allows us a freedom that I don't think we'd have otherwise. So, thank you B*by Whisperer and H*ppiest Baby on the Block for giving us some guidance.
For quite some time now, you have been sleeping anywhere from 6 - 8 hours each night, waking for a morning bottle and then going back to sleep for a couple of hours. When you wake, you are all smiles even if it's in the middle of the night. We get a cry that says, hey guys where are you and then are greeted with your smiling face and kicking legs. While it's funny to see, I must admit I prefer when you don't wake in the middle of the night which now really is a rare event.
We have found that you still need to be swaddled over night because if you aren't, you get those arms and legs going and wake yourself up. You also spin yourself in circles in your crib which wakes you up as well. So, we'll swaddle until we can't swaddle no more.
This week we also tried out rice cereal a couple of times but decided to stop because you had this nasty yeast infection/diaper rash and diarrhea. Wanted you to get over that first. But man, you like to eat sucking down 6 ounces like it's the best thing you have ever eaten. You still spit up a bit, but your reflux seems to be a little more under control.
All in all, I think this last month you have changed the most. I am excited to see the little girl you are becoming and saddened to watch my baby...MY BABY grow up. I guess that's how most moms feel, but knowing that doesn't make it any easier.
Thank you baby girl for being a bright ray of sunshine in my life that forever will remind me of what is good in the world, of what is good in me.
I love you.

Glass ceiling, fractured
I try to refrain from veering from all things Miss C on this blog just because that is the primary focus. However, there are times when I MUST venture away from the typical content to share an important event in my life other than her.
Today is one of those days.
When I first found out I was pregnant, I had a conversation with my boss about my future with the company. Specifically, if I thought I would be returning to work after I had Miss C. At the time, I was still unsure and communicated as much. What was communicated to me was the promise of a raise and "promotion" when I returned.
While I was on maternity leave some role changes took place and while I knew I should trust my bosses, it was difficult being removed from the situation like I was. What I felt confident of was that I had worked my ass off and deserved what I had been promised. Seriously, if working 12 hour days while very pregnant didn't show my dedication I am not sure what would have.
Upon my return things happened that made my confidence waiver even more regarding that promised raise/promotion. Then, some idiot did a "reply to all" and distributed the social and salary of everyone in my department to everyone in the department. While I didn't see the spreadsheet I did hear what some people made and it honestly didn't sit well.
But I didn't say anything. I tucked the knowledge that someone I worked circles around made $20 more an hour than I did in my pocket for future reference.
Then, today, it all changed and let's just say hard work pays off and a 32% raise is gonna buy this girl a lot of new shoes.

4 Month Observations of Miss C
Wow! What a month. It seems like Miss C has changed dramatically in such a short period of time. Here are some things she's done...
- Went swimming.
- Grabbed her feet.
- Stuck the giraffe's feet in her mouth.
- Laughed out loud a lot.
- Talked to everything and squealed with delight.
- Drooled all over everything.
- Stuck both fists in her mouth.
- Ate rice cereal for the first time.
- Wore blue jeans for the first time.
- Got a lot of new hair.
- Went for walks with mom and dad.
- Rolled over
- Spun around in circles whenever her arms broke free from her swaddle while sleeping in her crib.
- Got a nasty little yeast infection that turned into an equally as nasty diaper rash.
- Held her head steady.
- Read books
- Changed mom and dad forever with her smile.

Get in my belly
Yesterday Miss C ate rice cereal for the first time. She didn't gag or revolt or anything. Just tried to work her mouth to consume it and drooled a lot.
Tomorrow is her last day at day care. I am scared that she will stop sleeping as well because she doesn't have all that activity going on around her. But, we shall see. Whatever happens, we will deal with. I just hope this cough she's had now for 3 weeks will go away once she's at home.
I am also a little scared that it will not work out with Amy. I am trying to stay positive, but it's hard because I just don't know what to expect. Cross your fingers for that.
Work is seriously kicking my ass with our go-live on July 1. I got the "easy" job of coordinating logistics for our command center and it's not so easy. I am just thankful I am not big and pregnant like I was during our pilot go-live. That was awful.

A girl and her dad
SP's Father's Day started off last night. Jake got him a kids book...the real touching part was the handwritten note inside that said how much he enjoyed SP reading to him when he was a kid so he got the book for SP to read to Miss C. It's moments like that, that validate why we moved here.
Simply put, SP is a great father. He loves his girl and it's very obvious that she loves him too. The way her face lights up when she sees him is priceless. I also think she has his personality...with her ever present smiles and joyful laugh.
I love to watch the two of them together. The way he sings and dances with her, calls her his little Monkey, plays with her on her exercise mat, and so much more.
I could not have asked for a better person to be the father of my child. He changes diapers (even the poopy ones), makes bottles, gets up with her in the middle of the night, takes her and picks her up from daycare, goes to the doctor with her, etc. Not once has he waivered at being her dad and all that it entails.
I am thankful for that.
Happy Father's Day Babe! I love you.

12 pounds 8 ounces
Took Miss C to the doctor today. She is now 12 pounds 8 ounces and 23 1/4 inches. The crappy part is she got her shots, which did not make her happy at all. It breaks my heart when she sticks that bottom lip out and cries.
I cannot believe she is almost 4 months old. It is so different now with her than it was when she was born. Her personality, while evident pretty much from birth, is even brighter and bubblier now. She truly is a happy baby and for that I feel competely and utterly blessed.
Definitely a Daddy's girl. The two of them are hilarious together and he can get her cracking up just by talking to her. Of course, it is SP, so it's not really just talking...there are voices and it's all animated and silly, but she loves it. Thankfully, he is getting back to where he can do more with her as his shoulder heals. I know he missed that one-on-one time with her.
Miss C only has one week left at the day care and to be honest I am relieved. I felt bad for a second, but got over that quickly when I heard this nasty cough and found out she has a YEAST INFECTION. What the hell? Granted, it's not all their fault, it happens, but it really bothers me that my 4 month old baby has a yeast infection. I needed to trust my instincts about the place and while I loved the director, in the end it was not what I wanted for Miss C. I am hopeful that everything will work out with the nanny.
