Yesterday was one of those days where you just want to rewind and start over. It had the potential to start off much better. We got a leisurely start to the day because Miss C had a doc appointment. It's always nicer to just take our time in the morning rather than feeling rushed to get out the door.
We were almost ready to head to the doctor and SP decided to go with us. His shoes were downstairs and Miss C wanted to help Daddy get his shoes. Next thing we know, she has fallen down the basement stairs. I am surprised I didn't deliver immediately in the kitchen because SP's reaction, in addition to her falling down the stairs, scared the crap out of me.
Thankfully, she was no hurt other than a rug burn on her elbow. The doctor checked her out when we went to her appointment too, just to be sure. It could have turned out so much worse so I am thankful she wasn't hurt. It was bound to happen at some point, but I could have done without it happening at all.
In other news her doc appointment was to check out two things. The first is a skin irritation she has had for some time. We've been trying to treat it with over the counter lotions because of its bumpy, dry skin nature. This wasn't working. Turns out she has keratosis pilaris and we got a prescription yesterday that hopefully will help.
We also have been noticing her right foot turning in a bit when she walks so we wanted to have that checked out as well. It's not impacting her ability to walk or run or play but wanted to have it checked just to be sure nothing was wrong. Per the doctor we are to just watch it for now and plan on coming back in after the baby is born to have it re-checked by an orthopedist. The doctor did say she thought they would just want to monitor it as well but she wanted to confirm.
Oh...and lastly, I am still pregnant.

Blinded by the light
Yesterday I ended up at the doctor a day early due to some blurred vision and difficulty focusing on anything. I was also having headaches so they had me come in to check my blood pressure. Turns out that it's just allergies. Blood pressure is fine.
I am still 1 cm dilated and am now 50% effaced. Miss R is still head down and I am not sure she has any plans to arrive any time soon.
At work they threw me a small shower and I got some super cute outfits and a handmade blanket. Love it. This weekend I will get her room finalized and we are taking Miss C out to let her pick out a gift for the the new baby. We also got a gift for Miss C that Miss R will bring when she arrives (via her Mommy of course).
I keep reminding myself that in just a few short weeks I'll have two kids which freaks me out a bit. I am also excited though to meet Miss R because I am sure she is going to be as wonderful as her big sister.

Shut your mouth
In the last two days the following statements have been made to me...
Random person - "You look like you are about to explode."
and
Random person - "When are you due?"
Me - "3 Weeks"
Random person - "What are you doing out?"
I have seriously had my fair share of people making the rudest, most inappropriate, most insensitive comments about me and my pregnant state. Not really sure what people are thinking but the shit that comes out of their mouths is amazing.
Maybe I am just too sensitive about all things pregnancy but I think it's difficult enough to deal with the hormones, weight gain and sleeplessness associated with pregnancy. Throw in people telling you how big you are, how tired you look and how crabby you are and well, it's too much.
So, I am going to try to not tell anyone to f-off in the next 3 weeks but people are making it very difficult. Very difficult.

3 Weeks and Counting
At this point in my pregnancy I have 3 weeks left until my due date. Miss R is having a little party on the right side of my body and it's often quite noticeable that she is there. I am starting to freak out a bit and my level of worry for her and about her is greatly increasing.
I worry about her health. I worry that her delivery will go smoothly and that when she arrives there will be no complications. I worry that Miss C won't react positively to her arrival and that I won't be able to give them both all of my love. I worry and worry and worry.
Because of the worry, I am trying to focus on those last minute things to get ready for her arrival. Today I bought the outfit for her first picture and for when we bring her home. I feel compelled to make sure she has new things even though we have TONS of things from when Miss C was born.
I am trying to keep myself from worrying unnecessarily because things will happen as they are supposed to, but I just want my girl to be healthy and happy.

Micka Mouse and other things
Micka Mouse
Miss C has taken a great interest in Mickey Mouse (aka Micka Mouse) and appears to have graduated from Blues Clues as her morning show of choice. I am not entirely sure what prompted her sudden love of all things Mouse but she is way into it.
Initially I thought our trip to see her first live show of Mickey Mouse Pl*yhouse caused this infatuation but she had started asking for him before that...so who knows. Maybe they talk about him more at daycare or play his music because we until this week we didn't own anything Mickey Mouse and didn't really watch the Disney channel.
Of course, we do now. Miss C watches Micka Mouse before daycare in the AM...her only real TV time and we also have a Micka Mouse CD that she loves to dance to.
Outside
Miss C does not seem to have lost one ounce of her love for the outdoors and LOVES that the weather is now nice enough that we can play outside almost nightly. We've had to give up our nightly walks because I can't really do that right now but will quickly pick those back up after Miss R comes.
In this picture Miss C is "cutting the grass" with her bubble lawn mower that she got for her birthday. She is hilarious trying to mow our crazy uneven yard and constantly says "not working" when their are no bubbles.

Opening Day
I didn't get a 36 week photo of me preggo that included the belly. This is the best I could do. As you can see from my swollen face, the rest of me has decided to swell as well. Hands, feet, everything.
Still, we managed to have a good time at the Reds Opening Day. In this picture we are at a bar which really is torture for a girl who likes a cold beer on a hot Spring day that involves baseball. I survived without incident or breakdown so I think that's a pretty good day.

Miss C stayed home from daycare with Miss Amy while we were at the game. We got her a very creepy Rosie doll to add to her collection of baseball mascot dolls. Thought she needed to add a girl to that mix despite the fact that I really do think this doll is creepy.
The funny thing is while Miss C is on a Micka Mouse kick she is also on a Grover (from Sesame Street) kick and keeps calling Rose, Grover. It's funny.

After we got home from the ballgame we let Miss C eat an Easter Cupcake that Nana and Papa brought. She kept saying they were for a birthday so everyone had a birthday that night.

New furniture
This weekend Miss C's new bedroom furniture was delivered. Of course, it wasn't as smooth as we would have liked because the crib is actually two different colors, cherry and expresso. We ordered expresso and the rest of the furniture is expresso.
It will take 4 weeks to get the correct crib so it should arrive right about the same time as Miss R. Thankfully we can use the bed as is and initially won't need a crib for Miss R so we can use the other one if necessary.
As you can see from this picture, Miss C wasn't phased by the colors of the bed and managed to sleep quite well. What you can't really see in this picture is the sheet we have taped to the front rail of the bed because she decided she wanted to chew on the bed at naptime earlier in the day. She now points to her bed and the wrapped railing and says "no eat" which would be funnier if that bed was more than a week old.

Nap calendar success
I am pleased to announce the we successfully napped 30 out of 31 days in the month of March. The one exception did involve a nap, but it was only because I had to drive Miss C around in the car to get her to sleep. That day aside, it was a HUGE success and I am so proud of our girl.
The March calendar is covered in pink, green and yellow dots along with the "special" Mickey Mouse stickers we got to put on when we reached the end of the month. I'll take a new picture and post it here.
The interesting thing too is the duration of the naps have increased as well so we are experiencing more 2 hour naps that 40 minute naps which is nice. This could also be due to the fact she is playing more but I'll take it.
I really am shocked this worked so well but I am going to continue to go with it as long as Miss C agrees.

Dear Miss C
In just a few short weeks you will become a big sister and while I am worried about the initial shock this will have to you in your little world, I also know that over time you will adjust and be the best big sister a girl could have.
Things around the house have been even more "you" focused as Dad and I smother you with love, affection and everything your heart desires. Once your little sister gets here I know there will never be another time in your life where it is just you so I want this to be that time.
We have started getting things ready for Miss R's arrival and I have been pretty sentimental when going through your tiny baby clothes and remembering all we have been through these last two years.
You really were a great baby and have grown into a wonderful little girl. It is sheer joy to wake up every morning to your smiling face and to hear all the things you say. I like that we can talk to each other now and I am amazed at some of the things you come up with. One of my favorite things is to hear you sing songs. Sure, you don't always know the words but you love, love, love to sing and it makes me happy.
I also completely enjoy our time together in the car to and from day care. That is when it's just us and sometimes a Mom just needs that one-on-one time with her girl. We do all kinds of things during those car rides...we sing songs, we talk about your day, we ride with all the windows down and let the wind blow our hair, we point out trucks and birds and motorcycles. It is the highlight of my day.

Here are some of the other things you are doing right now:
- everyone is "poo-pooing on the potty" when they are in the bathroom
- we got you a new coat hook for your room and you love to hang up your jackets
- your vocabulary is ever growing and you like to repeat what we say
- you love sleeping with the pillow Nana made you with your gazillion babies in the bed
- coloring and drawing, along with the use of stickers, is an almost daily thing
- we make lots of pizza in your fake kitchen which is always hot and requires us to "blow on it" to cool it off
- you like to be helpful and clean up everything
- whenever we eat you must have your own towel and like to wash your hands and face off, along with the table
- at night we read 1 book that you pick, talk about your day, sing two songs while cuddling and count your nap stickers
- you will eat just about anything we give you which makes things easier on us
- jumping is also a favorite along with running around the island in the kitchen
- you also like to undress yourself and this is easiest when you are in your PJs. We have found you many a night undressed in your crib laughing.
- you also like to explore what is inside your diaper so we've returned to wearing onesies pretty much 24/7. It's like you are so proud of your poo that you want to show us. Totally gross.
- you like to help comfort your classmates at school who are upset by hugging them, holding their hand or going to get their favorite blanket or stuffed animal.
- you are still a little cuddle bug just like were when you were born.
We are now getting ready to embark on a new journey for both of us. I have never been a Mommy to two little girls and you have never been a big sister. Still, I am confident that we'll get through it together.
I love you baby girl.
Mommy
