7 Weeks Pregnant

This is what I looked like 7 weeks pregnant. I am not too green in this picture. That came later. We were heading off to Miss Amy's wedding.
Now, I am 10 weeks pregnant and am thrilled I have gone since last Thursday without puking my guts out. Trying to not get too cocky about it, but life is so much better when you aren't puking.

Positive

I'd love to write to you and tell you things are going splendidly, but I'd be lying. I have puked literally every day but once since I last posted. Some times multiple times a day. I've puked in my house, at work and in my car. I've puked in the morning, in the middle of the day and even in the middle of the night being jolted awake to go running to the bathroom.

This, my friends, is why I didn't want to get pregnant again any time soon. It sucks.

The suckiest part is I now have a 19 month old and it's not fair to her that I am miserable. And, I am. I'd like to say I am tougher than this, but let's face it, I am not. Not really sure who is actually.

The good news is that all this regurgitation of my meals means that little baby Derby is trucking along growing and thriving well. I am honestly surprised I haven't puked the little bugger out as violently as I have been throwing up.

Miss C has no clue what is going on thankfully and I am doing my best to shield her from witnessing my vomiting. Just think that's not the easiest thing to explain to a girl her age. She is also trucking right along being the highlight of our lives with her ever-developing self complete with full sentences like "I don't know" and "I threw ball" and "Here you go". She was worth all the puking so I am confident #2 will be too.

Lucky number 7

Those who know me know that if things are quiet it's because there's something afoot. Lack of blogging doesn't equal lack of activity that is for sure and here's what's been going on.

A few weeks ago now I was getting ready to take the prescription I take every 4 months to start my period. I have been doing that since Miss C was born due to the irregularity of my periods. Exciting stuff I know.

Prior to taking the meds I always take a pregnancy test just to be sure and every time the tests were negative...until now. I ended up with 2 positive pregnancy tests and about shit my pants.

I'm not gonna lie. I hated being pregnant. It was like being hung over for 9 months and absolutely miserable. I wasn't ready to go through that again. But sometimes the universe has other plans.

What followed was a call to the doctor where I said, I haven't had a period since May so I could be MONTHS pregnant or WEEKS. And here's what followed:
  • Then I started spotting.
  • Then my beta levels were 1800 indicating pregnancy.
  • Then they increased to 5200. I was still bleeding and thinking miscarriage.
  • Then I had an ultrasound which showed a yoke and sac but no heartbeat or cells indicating a baby was brewing.
  • Then a conversation with the doctor about possibly miscarrying.
  • Then more beta levels that showed more increase in the hormone levels.
  • Still bleeding.
  • Then some vomiting. And some more vomiting. And some more.
  • Then another ultrasound and the wooshing beat of a heart.

So, much to our surprise there's a baby brewing in my belly. I am 7 weeks pregnant and due 5/3.

Update...finally

Miss C is doing great. She is moving at full speed with everything. There is no more walking it's all running all the time unless she is sleeping.

Her recent check up has her growing as she should be though it appears she's going to be short like her Monja. Those little legs are growing they just aren't super long. We did have to go buy her a bunch of new clothes though because everything looked like a belly shirt and her jeans were so tight she couldn't lift her legs to go up the stairs.

Daycare is going well. She has adjusted so well to the new room and we have even experienced our first day where she was having so much fun that she didn't want to leave.

It still amazes me all the things they do in a day there. I am sure if I stayed at home with her I would figure that stuff out because it would be my job but it's really fascinating how they make everything a learning experience...even the not so glamorous things like defrosting the class room fridge.

I will post new pictures soon. Been slacking there a bit.

Illness

On Wednesday they called from the daycare to tell me Miss C had a temp and would need to go home. Thankfully we were already planning on getting her early for her 18 month check up.

At the daycare her temp was 101.6 and at the doctor she had no temp. They checked everything...ears were good, nose and throat good, everything was good yet when SP had picked her up from the daycare she was laying on the floor sleeping while all the other kids played. Something was wrong it was just hidding from the doctors.

She was miserable. Wanted to be held. Didn't want to eat. Nothing appeased her and nothing seemed to make her feel better. Our happy go lucky girl was a lethargic baby who wouldn't part with her paci or her blankie.

Since we couldn't take her to daycare Nana and Papa came up to watch her on Thursday. Thursday she got worse and ended up running a temp of 103.4. We took her back to the doctor who again could not detect a temp and couldn't find anything wrong with her.

They thought she might have a bladder infection so we had to try to collect a urine sample using this ziploc baggie thing. Talk about difficult. The baggie didn't stick where it needed to stick and most of the urine went in the diaper and not in the baggie. Nana did good to squeeze out a drop and I reused the baggie and was able to get another drop later. Just enough for a test to show she didn't have a bladder infection.

Her temp did go down and with it came two nights of her waking up at 3 wanting to be up because she slept so much during the day. There were moments when she was backed to her old self followed by moments where she would just lay down and rest in the middle of the room. Her behavior has also been out of sorts with more crying, tantrums, hitting and throwing. I will be glad when our girl is back to her healthy self.

Tonight she ate more than she has in 3 days. She took a good nap earlier and when to bed easily. Cross your fingers she wakes up refreshed and well.
