Miss C has started doing this thing that is so unbelievably adorable I had to share it. She has been saying "Night Night Bebe, Night Night Bebe" to her toys like she is putting them to sleep. Sometimes she even says it about herself. The cutest part is the way she says baby.
I love that girl.

Best Birthday Present EVER
Last night my sweet baby girl sang me happy birthday. Sure it wasn't always understandable but the effort was there. It was the most beautiful birthday song ever.

Posting
I tried to post a bunch of pictures last night but things were funky so I couldn't. I will because we've been doing a lot. We leave tomorrow for Gatlinburg with Mom, Bruce, Dawn, Mike and Mia. It's supposed to rain but I am sure we'll have a good time regardless.
Went to the OBGYN today for my check up. I am 12 weeks pregnant and have been blessed with minimal nausea and vomiting for a couple of weeks now. THANK GOD. That stuff is for the birds. Everything was good per the doctor and the heart rate is 163. If you believe the info on the internet this indicates a girl. We shall see.
I'll post more later.

Even when you want to give up
One of the drawbacks for living away from my family is that we don't have a lot of "family" options when it comes to sitters for Miss C. It's not that my family isn't helpful, because they are. It just requires a little more effort to coordinate and it's not as easy as a phone call and a quick drop off.
Because of this, we've had to come to rely on non-family members to watch Miss C which isn't easy. Things work out great with Miss Amy because there is a history there but she is not always available. So, we've started having Katie come over on Mondays to watch Miss C for our date night.
Katie is great. She has a lot of experience and is just all around a nice person. A girl I work with referred her and I feel comfortable with our decision to use her. But it has been a challenge.
Miss C has realized quickly that when Katie comes we leave and has decided to let us know she is not pleased about us leaving. She cries the moment Katie arrives and often screams the entire time to the point where we don't want to leave. So, we've struggled and tried everything we could think of to calm things down. We didn't want to leave Katie with a screaming kid and we didn't like to see our baby all worked up like that.
Then, last night, we just left. We said our good-byes and walked out while she was screaming and throwing her tantrum. She stopped crying before we reached the restaurant and was fine after that. Lesson learned.

10 weeks
I am officially 10 weeks pregnant. The baby (ha) is consuming a lot of bread and potatoes. And though it's only the size of like a big thumb, it is causing my waist to expand much quicker than the last go round.
I think we are still in a state of shock because well...we had decided to wait awhile before we had another baby. Granted, sex leads to pregnancy...we all learn that in grade school (Unless you go to those schools that refuse to teach sex education which is a TOTALLY different topic that I won't go into here.). But if you'll recall I tried for a year to get pregnant with Miss C and ended up taking Clomid. We just didn't think it was possible.
Little Derby showed us.
I think we are still in a state of shock because well...we had decided to wait awhile before we had another baby. Granted, sex leads to pregnancy...we all learn that in grade school (Unless you go to those schools that refuse to teach sex education which is a TOTALLY different topic that I won't go into here.). But if you'll recall I tried for a year to get pregnant with Miss C and ended up taking Clomid. We just didn't think it was possible.

What to do...
This past week Miss decided she didn't want to nap which resulted in a very tired and cranky baby. The child just has to be involved in everything and I think she liked the one-on-one attention she got at the daycare when she didn't nap.
Evenings for us were difficult. There was a lot of crying and drama. The smallest of things put her over the edge. Still we could handle a couple hours in the evening with a cranky kid.
The weekend, when she continued not to nap, SP was golfing and I was puking...well, that wasn't so fun. We were both tired. I was miserable. Then she decided to not walk while we were in a parking lot after lunch and instead opted to lie down and not get up.
I must admit, these types of situations floor me sometimes. I try to think of the best response that won't land her in therapy one day. There's the "talk it out" idea of trying to reason with a defiant child. Or the "let her have it" idea of spanking her or yelling in the middle of the parking lot. Or the "under the arm football hold" idea where you pick up the toddler and carry her to the car like she's a football.
I opted for the football hold approach. I felt this a) didn't involve violence, b) didn't involve her getting run over by a car and c) didn't involve me puking on her.
Therapy here we come.

Paci-free and sitting on the potty
Last week when Miss C came home from visiting Nana and Papa she didn't want her pacifier at bed time. I thought it was a fluke but didn't force it on her.
We were down to the paci at night only. Then she got sick those few weeks real close to each other and all she wanted was her paci. So I was pretty shocked when she didn't want it.
First night went fine so we hid the pacifiers and tried again the next night, and the next, and the next. It's now a week and she still hasn't used her pacifier or really even indicated she wanted it or missed it.
Overall we haven't noticed much change in her sleeping. There were a couple nights where it took her longer to fall asleep but really nothing out of the ordinary. I guess she was just ready.
Another new development is Miss C indicating when she's gone to the bathroom. This is either a declaration of "Poo-Poo" or she grabs herself. She's also become very interested in sitting on the potty though she hasn't officially used it yet. Despite that she still likes to wipe and flush like she has gone so we're just going with it.
