Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh My!
Today we took Miss C to the zoo. We didn't dress her up in her Halloween costume because we sort of last minute decided to go, but it was cute to see all the little ones in their costumes.
She was so excited but I am not sure she noticed most of the animals. It was like she knew it was a good time but she didn't really get what the good time was all about. She kicked her legs and laughed with delight.

The best day...EVER!
The morning started out a little rocky. SP is sick and I had moved to Jake's room for the third night in row. The bed is like a slab of concrete so I can't say moving helped me sleep much but I at least did not have a blow horn in my ear.
I got up at 6:30 and was out the door by 7:20 to pick up a co-worker at a car dealership close to my house. I was on time, but he got stuck in traffic and ended up being 30 minutes late. While I waited Amy called to say she was sick which threw me into a tailspin.
SP had to be in Columbus. I had to wait on my co-worker and try to get him to work for a 8:30 meeting. I was short on the phone with Amy. Not real focused on her once my mind started trying to figure out how I was going to make it work.
It ended up going like this...my co-worker arrived. We drove back to my house and picked up Miss C. We then had to drive to my co-worker's house because he forgot his pagers and he was on-call. He lives on the other side of town. Then, I dropped him off at work. He didn't make his 8:30 meeting and I didn't go to work.
Initially, I had planned on working from home but really, what's the point? I still have to use one of my PTO days and I am always thinking about how I would like to spend the day with Miss C, so I did.
Let me tell you, we had the best day. In the 7+ months of her life there have been some really good days. This one tops them all. It was nice out. She was in the most fantastically hilarious mood talking and laughing. She ate like a horse and napped easily. We went shopping and she squealed with delight.
At one point during the day she got tired and started to do her thing where she rubs her face against my chest. I just cuddled her there and rocked her because while I am always the major advocate for letting her fall asleep on her own, I also recognize that my baby is growing up and there will only be so many of those such moments.
I took full advantage of the nice weather, an unexpected day off and a happy baby by dancing and singing and cuddling and just enjoying her company. She truly is amazing with her tiny little finger movement that we can't figure out the meaning of and her laughter and things unseen.
I truly am blessed and will be forever thankful for her smiles.

Some of my favorites
In case you can't view the slideshow or don't want to, here are some of my favorite pictures and a little info on the photos.
Look at those teeth...and the slobber on her shirt. She had just finished gnawing on a teething biscuit and managed to get it all over her.
Despite the fact that Miss C has tons of toys AND is also perfectly happy playing with our plastic bowls and measuring cups, we bought her this little musical station thing today. She had more fun with the dog.
Because she got teething biscuit all over her outfit and we were walking to dinner, we changed into her Halloween outfit. Oh, and we were practicing our walking.

MaMaMaDaDaDa
Miss C is starting to make MaMa DaDa sounds and while I don't think she really associates it with either of us, we do like to pretend and compete over who she is jabbering about. We continue to chat it up with her and though I can't understand what she is saying I like to think she is chatting back.
Yesterday we watched as Miss C went after Copper's bone with a vengence and no amount of redirection or offer of new toys would persuade her to not keep trying to shove the bone in her mouth. I even went so far as to put the bone on a little ledge which I thought was out of reach even though it was only about a foot off the floor in front of the fireplace (Which we don't use by the way in case you were wondering.). I was wrong. I put the bone on the ledge and Miss C on the other side of the living room and she proceeded to grunt and Army crawl and perch up on all fours until she found herself in front of the ledge.
The ledge is brick by the way which totally freaks me out because I keep wondering how in the hell I am going to keep a moving baby from busting her face against a brick ledge in front of our fireplace. Anyway, she not only realized I put what she wanted on that ledge, she worked her ass off to get there. I was slightly tempted to just give it to her to reward her for her determination and perserverance, but there was dog slobber all over it. Gross.
The other new thing Miss C is doing is this attachment thing. It has totally caught me off guard because I used to be able to leave the room, walk away, go out of her line of sight and she honestly didn't notice much. I guess the flip side of her lighting up like a Christmas tree when we walk into the room because she recognizes us is that when we leave that light goes out and tears replace it.
Interestingly enough she also did this for the first time yesterday with Amy. It was crazy because SP and I were both here and were having a check-in with Amy and when she went to leave Miss C actually cried. Granted, she cried for like a second and then moved on to something else which is what she does most of the time when we leave the room but it's new and different.
Speaking of check-in, we had a check-in with Amy yesterday because I found out we are 18th on the waiting list at the daycare at my work. Now 18th might sound great, and it's way better than 110 which is where we started, but what it actually means is that we could get an offer for the Summer or Fall of next year. Because of that we had to discuss if we wanted to continue to have Amy watch Miss C, if she wanted to continue to watch Miss C and the direction we wanted her care to go.
All is good. We think Amy is working out. Miss C is happy. We are happy and things are going to continue as they are.

Teeth and other things that bite
Miss C's hair is now long enough to put it in a mohawk. So we did.
You never really know how dirty your floor is until your baby starts to crawl and tries to put every fleck of dirt into her mouth.
Because we think Miss C is cutting more teeth we are trying all kinds of things to give her some relief. In this photo she is going to town on a biscuit (How appropriate since we used to call her Biscuit.) in a teether. Getting that slobbery mess out of the teether is GROSS.
Miss C also has a newly discovered fascination with putting banana puffs in her mouth. The fun part is watching them stick to her hands and her trying to get them unstuck and into her mouth. We use the puffs to distract her when it's time to eat and Mom and Dad are a little slow on the preparations.
