Today for school C could dress up in something other than her uniform. I could tell they had really hammered in the fact that "dress up" meant dressy clothes and not blue jeans and t-shirts, because she mentioned it a lot.
She doesn't have a lot of dressy clothes because we don't do a lot of overly dressy things and the couple of dresses she does have work perfectly for those times. We are more of a blue jean family, but also understand the value of dressing up and looking nice.
Awhile back Granny and Aunt R bought her this fancy dress complete with a velvety top and tulle skirt. She has never worn it. It's pretty fancy. She insisted on wearing it today for school. Insisted.
Who are we to stop her? There wasn't anything inappropriate about it. The length was good. It covered all the right parts. It was seasonally appropriate. We added tights and these knee high boots a friend gave her. Her decision to wear those as well. You would have thought she was Cinderella.
SP and I worried that she would be too dressed up. Worried that she would feel out of place. You know, that parent worry that gets the best of us. But, in the end she wanted to wear it and if that helps boost her confidence so be it. She did look great.
I totally forgot to take a picture. Whoops.
