Last week we took Miss C to her 15 month check up. She's 30.5 inches, 22 pounds and just all around doing well. Though she's a little on the light side weight wise the doctor assured us she her height/weight was in the 50 percentile.
Right now it's like she is honing the skills she has acquired over the last year. Now she isn't just babbling but she's actually using words we understand. Too many to count but enough for us to be able to effectively communicate with her. We spend a lot of time with her saying things like "cocker" for the dog and me saying "COP-PER". This has greatly decreased her us of sign language which was super helpful up to this point.
Other things she is doing is hugging and kissing with frequency. The kissing is new. The hugging is spectacular. I must admit if I could bottle that hug and save it for the day when she doesn't want to hug me because her friends are waiting, and come on MOM! I wanna go play you are so lame phase, I would.
Like her Mom she loves books and doesn't try to eat them like she used to. Now she sits with the books in front of her like she is reading. Those books with flaps that have "surprises" under the are her favorite. She laughs when she lifts the flaps to see what's underneath. We also think she is the smartest child on the planet because when we sit with her big book of pictures and say "where are the shoes?" she finds the shoes, "where is the dog?" she finds the dog, etc. So smart.
The other thing she loves to do is dance. Whenever there is music playing she'll bop her head side-to-side or kick her leg or twirl in circles. We sing and dance in the car on the ride home and it's hilarious to see her recognize a song she likes and start kicking her legs. The girl loves music and dancing.
Last night we took her to her first church picnic of the year. Here in Cincinnati they call the festivals but they will always be picnics to me. We drank a couple beers, played some pull tabs, hung out. It was nice. We rarely keep her up past her bed time but this was a nice exception.
Today she got to play with her new sand/water box thing that her Dad got her. She LOVED it. Of course she loved dumping the sand out of the box onto the deck which drove her Dad crazy but she totally enjoyed every second of it. I had the most difficult time getting the sand out of her hair though. I need to figure out a solution for that.
